As much as I have had to be on the lookout for getting scammed [face palm], it's nice to tell a story where someone looks out for me (much like the cab driver in Waterloo).
Prior to heading to Amsterdam, I performed several web searches and my research told me that I would be paying about 100 Euros for a train ticket on the high speed rail to Amsterdam. Ok -- no problem. I packed my stuff and headed to the train station. At the station, I approached the high speed rail ticket counter desk and the person behind the counter asked if I was traveling today (I was), and she told me to take a local train instead. It was only a two hour trip and cost less than 30 Euros. Woo hoo!
I collected my ticket and off I went. The train ride was really relaxing -- no, I didn't see any windmills, but I did see several patches of tulips.
On to the city...
