After sleeping until 5pm, and nursing a hangover, Brandon awoke and my plan to ditch him for the evening was effectively thwarted (crazy -- we drank the same amount, and I was perfectly fine, and I had been out for a good 4-5 hours; nothing like the veteran showing the rookie how it's done ;p).
I had come back momentarily from the Flower Market and was hoping to miss him before heading out for food and going out. Instead, he busted my plan, and we decided to go out -- I figured that I could give him another chance. This was night #2, and no third roommate materialized, which worked for me. I went to dinner and decided that I'd give Dutch Argentinian food a try. Strangely enough, the dominant food options were Argentinian and Italian...Weird. After dinner, I decided to have mushrooms for dessert and figured, if nothing else, that would make the evening a little more entertaining.
Brandon came up with a brilliant idea to see an "ice bar." From the flyer he had, it did look like an interesting place. According to what he read, he said that it should open around 11pm. We ventured out and after taking numerous wrong turns, we finally showed right at 11pm. Unfortunately, this was some sort of kids "bar" that had a theater, and tons of souvenirs. Instead of opening at 11pm, the place actually closed at that time. D'oh!
On to Plan B -- we found a nice, random Dutch bar where we were the only foreigners, and Latin American dance music flowed through the place. I continued to learn other "interesting" tidbits about Brandon like this gem: "My parent's company wasn't doing too well until I joined it and then we started experiencing amazing growth," or "I think it takes a lot of balls for me to travel by myself," but by this point, the mushrooms were going full-on and I didn't really pay too much attention to the conversation.
Around midnight, the bar fired up a Dutch folk song, and everyone started singing. Then, an incredibly delicious orange shot was distributed throughout the bar. They kept distributing shots until they were sure that everyone had one -- gotta love the equity! :)
